LONDON, 8 September 2026

Stream, a leading global workplace finance platform, today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Salary Finance, one of the UK's best-known workplace financial wellbeing providers. This combination brings together two complementary businesses to provide enhanced services for employers while giving more workers access to broader and better financial tools.

The transaction combines Stream's digital-first platform, which offers tools including earnings tracking, budgeting, coaching, savings, flexible pay, pensions and loans, with Salary Finance's deep expertise in responsible workplace finance and financial wellbeing.

Together, Stream and Salary Finance will be better placed to significantly increase R&D investment in the next wave of workplace finance products, including ISAs, investments, insurance, and payments. The combination will also make life simpler and more cost effective for the combined business’s trusted employer network by streamlining payroll reconciliation and reducing the administrative work involved in managing financial benefits for their workforces.

Peter Briffett and Portman Wills, Stream Co-Founders, said: “We built Stream to give every worker access to fair financial tools. Since 2018, we have grown from a flexible pay product into a platform that reaches four million workers – helping people save, borrow, budget and plan, all through their employer. The combination with Salary Finance is the next step on our journey as a UK fintech champion and truly global workplace finance platform. As a combined company, there will be significant opportunity to create more value for UK employers and their workers. We look forward to working with Asesh Sarkar, Daniel Shakhani, and their team to drive innovation, improve financial wellbeing and continue our journey towards sustainable, mission-led growth.”

Asesh Sarkar and Daniel Shakhani, Co-Founders of Salary Finance, said: "Since starting Salary Finance in 2015, we have built a community of over 3.5 million employees through our partnerships with ~500 employers, and are now funding ~£350 million in responsible workplace finance every year. All of this driven by a dedicated team we are hugely proud of. Joining forces with Stream brings together two sets of complementary capabilities, sharing the same mission - improving the financial lives of millions of working people. Coming together gives us an opportunity to deliver further and faster towards our combined mission, which has now become a national priority as part of the Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy, and provide a broader and better suite of products to our customers.”

The combined business will reach 5.5 million British workers, in addition to millions more in the US and Europe. It will employ 375 people, all united behind the shared mission of improving financial wellbeing through fair financial tools to everyday workers.

As part of the transaction, Salary Finance co-founder and CEO Asesh Sarkar will join Stream as UK President and will continue to be a shareholder in the enlarged business, alongside L&G and other shareholders of Salary Finance.

Both Stream and Salary Finance are active supporters of the Government's Financial Inclusion Strategy, which identifies workplace finance as a key lever for improving access to fair financial products across the UK workforce, in addition to the importance of participation in workplace savings programmes. Consistent with the Government’s strategy, a combination of the two companies will enable employers to better support their workforce with access to financial wellbeing products and services. Stream has saved its members in the UK more than £150 million on financial services. Stream’s savings product, which offers a competitive interest rate, has helped 950,000 UK workers save, with over 340,000 saving for the first time.

The transaction is expected to complete in early 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, including FCA approval.
