Financial Wellbeing 2026: Dame Kelly Holmes on Health and Resilience

Dame Kelly’s story is one of the most remarkable in British history. Before becoming a double Olympic champion, she served as a Sergeant in the British Army, balancing her duties as an HGV driver and physical training instructor with the rigours of world-class athletics.

However, beneath the surface of her success, Dame Kelly was fighting a deeply private battle. Throughout her career, she navigated serious mental health challenges and debilitating physical injuries, all while facing the personal pressure of being unable to live as her authentic self.

Despite these hurdles, she achieved the near-impossible: winning double Olympic gold in Athens at the age of 34.

Since retiring from the track, Dame Kelly has become a voice for change. By opening up about her experiences, she has paved the way for more honest conversations around identity and wellbeing. Today, she is a leading advocate for mental health, specifically focusing on how organisations can better support their people.

On 20th May, Dame Kelly will deliver a powerful keynote on mental health and resilience. Drawing on her extraordinary life and career, she will provide our audience with insights and guidance on how to foster a culture of support and mental resilience in the workplace.
