Travelodge recognised the need to enhance its colleagues' financial wellbeing. While the company was already focusing on providing stable contracts (avoiding zero-hour contracts), and offering career progression through its Aspire development programme, it required an innovative tool to support employees from a financial wellbeing perspective.

This led Travelodge to introduce Stream as a key part of its 'Better Me' wellbeing strategy, which addresses emotional, physical, work, and financial wellbeing.

The introduction of Stream has had a significant impact on colleague sentiment and financial habits:

  • 91% of Travelodge employees expressed happiness with the introduction of Stream, with 74% 'very happy'
  • 34% noted they are more aware of how much they are spending, aiding better financial planning
  • 29% of colleagues reported being able to focus more on doing a good job
  • 27% said they felt better supported and/or were more likely to work for Travelodge for longer

  • Improved payroll accuracy: Track allows colleagues to check their submitted hours which has led to greater accuracy in payroll and fewer queries for the management team.
  • Drop in employee turnover: Travelodge has seen a lower drop in employee turnover in 2025 compared to 2024.

The platform's additional features, such as Workplace Savings and access to financial coaching are also key components. The save function is actively promoted to encourage financial resilience. Since launch, £1.1 million has been deposited into savings, indicating habitual, proactive saving.
