Founded in the 1960's, Superdrug has dominated the Health & Beauty space for decades, as one of the high street's best-loved establishments. With more than 800 stores across the UK & Ireland, they are the public's go-to choice for value, choice, friendly advice and fun.
Why did Superdrug & Savers need Stream?
Superdrug & Savers had been building a broader inclusion and wellbeing strategy since around 2022, spanning physical, mental, financial and social wellbeing — including its charity partnerships. On the financial side, the business first looked at what was already within its own control: enhancing existing discounts, and adding four extra family-and-friends shopping events a year, particularly for the Superdrug brand.

What challenges did Stream solve?
Two distinct problems sat behind this: employees hit by unexpected costs before payday with nowhere to turn, and a payroll team fielding a steady stream of calls from colleagues who didn't understand their pay. The specific trigger was a change to how staff were paid — when Superdrug & Savers moved payroll from a weekly to a monthly cycle, colleagues began raising more questions about financial matters, and the business noticed people struggling with the transition.
"One lady was telling me her car exhaust fell off her car, kind of a week before payday. Had she not had Stream, she would have really struggled to make that repair and be able to continue coming to work."
